2025 MS Gong Ride

We did it!

Relive route video:

The build

It’s amazing how quickly the race date has approached, so it was high time for me to set aside some time and build up my Gong ride bike! It had been a full 10 years since the bike had been on the road, so I set aside a day to blow out the cobwebs (literally… there were spiders living in the frame). Luckily my employer, Scape, gives everyone a bonus leave day for Good Health Month, so I had no excuses. I packed up the car and headed over to my parents’ place in search of a suitable space to build something.

Despite the crazy heat and subsequent storms that day, the bike came together pretty quickly, aside from 1 tiny missing part called a stepped ferrule. They aren’t really needed on anything made in the last 20 years, but I headed over to Trek bikes in Turramurra before close and hoped for the best. Luckily, Guy from their workshop is a vintage steel bike fan and after some rummaging around the parts bin, managed to find one - thanks, Guy!

With all the parts assembled, the bike was ready for a test ride - so it’s probably time for us to focus on actually being fit enough to ride the distance..!

Start line

Hi and welcome to our MS Gong ride team page!  The countdown has begun and preparations are underway.  We are delighted to be entering the event this year, and despite the challenge of a hilly 80km bike ride, we are doing it for a truly worthy cause.

Despite currently being out of shape, I've also decided to add to the challenge by completing the ride on a vintage road bike.  It has been sitting in my parents' garage for the last 5-odd years (sorry!) and from the photo it clearly needs a bit of TLC.  Will I regret doing the ride on a heavy bike that's older than I am?  Maybe, but hopefully the added flair will make up for it.

We’d love your support - whether it’s a donation, a share of our fundraising page, or simply cheering us on. You can follow our journey and catch all of our updates here on this team page.

Thanks for being part of this ride. Let’s make every kilometre count.

We're taking the Challenge to fight MS!

This November, we will be riding in the MS Gong Ride!
This iconic ride raises funds to help fight MS and now we are part of this incredible legacy.
Why are we fundraising?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and often debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system. It is the most common neurological disease in young adults and often attacks people in the prime of their lives. Cases of MS are rising and over 33,300 Australians live with the condition.
Your support will help people with multiple sclerosis receive the vital support, treatments, and services to help them live well at home, remain connected to work, and be part of the community, becuase no one should face MS alone.
Thank you again for your support!
