2025 MS Gong Ride

Fundraising Rank: 253 / 5,551

I'M RIDING 80KM THIS OCTOBER
THE DISTANCE FROM
Sydney TO WOLLONGONG

I'm taking the Challenge to fight MS!

This November, I am taking part in the 2025 MS Gong Ride!
This iconic ride raises funds to help fight MS and I'm now part of this incredible legacy.
Why am I fundraising?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and often debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system. It is the most common neurological disease in young adults and often attacks people in the prime of their lives. Cases of MS are rising and over 33,300 Australians live with the condition.
Your support will help people with multiple sclerosis receive the vital support, treatments, and services to help them live well at home, remain connected to work, and be part of the community, becuase no one should face MS alone.
Thank you again for your support!

Post Ride

Monday 3rd Nov
Well, it’s done! My first major bike ride in 26 years and first in Australia. Some amazing views though the National Park and on the run down towards Wollongong.
The hills were a huge challenge and nearly, nearly managed all of them but had to jump off on the Clifton section for about 50 metres.
Lots of lessons in nutrition and mind over matter.
My legs feel like they have been tenderised with a large mallet this morning and the saddle has left its impression on part of me.

Almost broke the $900 point thanks to some very generous friends and the team passed $10k for the 8 people in it.
Am now weighing up how I could do it differently in the future but right now my legs aren’t talking to me so may give them a few days to recover and forget what I put them through. But very happy with the effort.

6 days to go.....

Monday 27th Oct
The training has gone amazingly well...in my head. My knees are reporting a slightly different story with much grumbling and moaning.  To be fair training on a static bike is no substitute for the real thing and unless I am going to be going up a slightly ever-increasing incline it's probably not indicative of the ride itself.
So far, I have managed a few 30 and 40km rides but am intending 1 more practice before the big day and then give my joints a rest for a few days.
I have rolled out my trusty tube of anti-chafing cream in readiness as there are definitely parts of me that are rubbing together which physiologically aren't actually located in close proximity normally.
But its in a good cause. The team have managed a supreme effort in fundraising spearheaded by Captain Sam. Can we make $10k by Sunday??

First bike ride for 25 years

Saturday 27th Sep
Hi All,
I am supporting good friends of mine in their fundraiser for MS this year. I could just contribute, but I have decided to make it more of a challenge.. I have not ridden a bike since the year 2000 so this is going to be a rude awakening for parts of my body! 80kms with some sizeable hills thrown in is going to be  tough but I believe  in the cause and it is well worth it. I am not asking you to contribute as much but if you can put a few bucks it is all in a very worthwhile cause and no that my pain and discomfort isn’t in vain. Thank you!
