I'M RIDING 0KM THIS OCTOBER
TO FIGHT MS
I'm taking the Challenge to fight MS!
This November, I am taking part in the 40th MS Gong Ride!
Since 1981, this iconic ride has raised funds to help fight MS and I'm now part of this incredible legacy.
Why am I fundraising?
It’s quite staggering to think that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition. The average age of diagnosis is 30 years, and there is no known cure.
Every person’s MS varies, but some of the symptoms are not being able to see properly (or at all), loss of balance, ability to walk, pins and needles, and chronic pain.
Your support will help people with multiple sclerosis receive the vital support, treatments, and services to help them live well at home, remain connected to work, and be part of the community.
Thank you again for your support!

Done and dusted!
Monday 7th Nov
Thanks so much for your sponsorship; in total I raised $1,008 for the MS Society and was ranked at 478 highest out of 10,000 starters. So far $2,461,867 has been raised, but that will go up steadily.
The day started early as I got up at 3:30, had a leisurely brekky then left home at 4:35 to catch the 5:00 train at Stanwell Park. Got to the start line at Tempe at 6:05 and headed out with the hordes. I've been sick all week, spent Tues, Wed and Thurs arvo in bed with a cold/flu, negative RAT 3 times so guess just some bug. I missed a couple of training rides, so my plan was to ride a steady pace and just get there. That went well until some fast bunches came by and I just couldn't help getting on their wheel... :-)
Made Waterfall at 7:30 but there was a 25 minute wait as there had been a serious crash on the descent into the National park. Once we got going I was on my home turf so went flat out. A quick stop at Otford to say hi to Sarah and Sean then off again. The little pinch at the South end of the bridge nearly got me, but made it over the top. At Austinmer my girlfriend Maria was waiting at the bus stop on Kennedy's hill to say hi, another quick stop.
At least the final 10 Km or so are flat and the Nor'Easter was starting to kick in which was nice. Done and dusted by 1045 or so, with a ride time of 3:19, only a few minutes slower than my usual pace so very happy with that!
A perfect day for the ride, my only issue was I got a flat between the finish area and the train station! Wheeled it to the train and will fix that tomorrow.
Thanks again, Bern.
