I'm taking the Challenge to fight MS Riding the distance from Melbourne to Wollongong - 815km

I am taking part in the MS Gong Ride Virtual, the Ride to Fight MS.

I start my challenge on 1 October. You will be able to see my progress here on my page and support me along the way!

Why am I fundraising?  Well apart from having MS myself, I believe in giving back to help others.

It’s quite staggering to think that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition. It can strike anyone at any time and the symptoms vary so widely.

For instance, can you imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted? Like not being able to see properly (or at all), you physically can’t get out of bed, can’t walk to the phone to call someone – anyone – or  live a life without pain?

All of a sudden, your world has changed.

Thanks to your generous support, the funds we raise will allow people living with multiple sclerosis to access vital MS support services. Support to keep Aussies living with multiple sclerosis connected to others and connected to the information and services they need to live their best life.

Thank you again for your support!

That's a Wrap!

Monday 2nd Nov
Yesterday should have been the actual MS Gong ride from Sydney to Wollongong.  I have taken part in it for about the last 6 years with my friend Clare Giddens.  So we decided we would create our own version here in Melbourne and did the distance of 83km to finish off the virtual ride.  I managed to more than cover the distance I had set myself from Melbourne to Wollongong of 815km and managed to do 1340 km's, the best of my life ever!  And to top it off I'm only $196 away from my $2500 goal.  So here is hoping I get that by the 15th of November!
Thanks to everyone who got behind this event and supported me by donating and to those who joined my team!
Our team did an amazing job and even though we were small placed 3rd overall for the distance accomplished and 4th overall for the money raised.  Absolutely amazing!
I look forward to heading to Sydney next year to acutally do the ride and hope that I have wet the appetite of some of my team members to join me!
Thanks again everyone!

Almost there

Sunday 18th Oct
This morning I jumped on a ride with a couple of my teammates.  Jason Potter has been doing an amazing job with his riding and his fundraising.  He is riding the distance from Perth to Wollongong and currently is ranked 1st for distance in this challenge.
He was riding 120 km's today so 3 of us joined him for some of it.  To be honest I had a long ride yesterday so thought I would only ride 50km but it got the better of me and I stopped at 100km, which only leaves me 41 km from my 815 goal!
But tomorrow is a rest day so I'll have to wait until the middle of the week to hit the target.  Then it will be how far I can get before the end of the challenge.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me to this point!  Still looking for just over $1000 more to hit my $2500 goal!
Well still a few days to go.
P.S. The picture is me with Jason ahead on the start of our ride!

Up and On Our Way

Thursday 1st Oct
Well I am on my way to my target of 815km!  What I didn't realise was that my kilometers on the 29th of September would be added to my tally.  So I was very excited when I saw that extra 35km's there!  Today I did just over 40 so by tomorrow I will have clicked over my first 100km.  I'm starting to think I should have aimed at a higher distance target.  But I'll see how I go.
I've roped in a few of my St. Kilda Cycling Club members to take part and in the photo you can see a few of us who have been riding together on Zwift.
A huge thank you to all those who have sponsored me so far, you are all amazing for helping out on a worthy cause.
I'll let you know how I am feeling as the month goes on!

Crazy World, Crazy Times

Monday 13th Jul
Who would have thought back in January that our whole world would be turned upside down.  Well it has and we have to make the best of it.  My whole year has been changed with the postponement of the Tokyo Paralympic Games and all my racing in Europe cancelled.

I was hoping to be at my 3rd games and most likely my last games, but life has a funny way of throwing road blocks at you.  So they are supposed to be postponed until next year, but to be honest who knows if they will even go ahead.  But I am still training as if they were, so I am using the Virtual Gong ride to not only continue training but to challenge myself and to try to raise money to help others like me living with MS.

MSL has supported me in the good and the bad times, so I want to give back.  Come and help me help others and donate to my challenge.

See you in the virtual world!

Thank you to my Sponsors
