I'm taking the Challenge to raise awareness for MS!

I am taking part in the MS Gong Ride Virtual, the Ride to Fight MS.

I started my challenge on 1 October. You will be able to see my progress here on my page and support me along the way!

Why am I fundraising?

As a lot of you guys know, my father had MS. When I was younger he seemed fine but over time my family and I watched him deteriorate greatly, body and mind and become a person I'm sure he never wanted to be. As much as we tried, there was no way we could help him there was no way we could get him back to being the happy and loving father he once was. He passed away last year.

Last year I ran the charity run but thanks to COVID it cannot run so I'm continuing the tradition but riding instead. I'm learning that bike seats are not made for comfort...

Back to MS...

It’s quite staggering to think about how multiple sclerosis affects various people. It can strike anyone at any time and the symptoms vary so widely. Can it be inherited? We don't yet know.

For instance, can you imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted? Like not being able to see properly (or at all), you physically can’t get out of bed, can’t walk to the phone to call someone – anyone – or  live a life without pain?

All of a sudden, your world has changed.

Thanks to your generous support, the funds we raise will allow people living with multiple sclerosis to access vital MS support services. Support to keep Aussies living with multiple sclerosis connected to others and connected to the information and services they need to live their best life.

Thank you again for your support!

My Updates

Half way!

Thursday 15th Oct
Hi there! I just wanted to keep you guys updated and thank you all for all the support you have all given, it means a lot to me.
I've reached the halfway mark in time but not kilometres yet. I had a bit of a more relaxed week and the numbers are showing it. I'm not phased though, just gotta pull up my riding socks and get moving! I have now ridden the equivalent of Port Macquarie to Heatherbrae just to put things in perspective. Whenever I'd drive to and from my family home to Newcastle, I'd always stop at Heatherbrae for a cheeky stunner meal at good ol' HJ's. There wasn't a HJ's around when I was growing up and I have a fond memory when I was really young having it with my older brother and parents when I think we were visiting my nan and pop (I was super young so all I remember is food and the country link train). I do remember dad putting onion rings on the burger and thinking it was nasty... how times have changed. And the memory of my sister and I making the most of free refills when we visited Grandma. Crazy how small things spark silly memories.
I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks riding. My butt is getting used to the hard bike seats and my baby mooers (calves) aren't screaming at me as much which is great. I'm getting better at brushing off the people that want to chat while I'm huffing and puffing in the zone too haha!
Thanks for all the love and support guys! Bless 🙏

1 week down!

Wednesday 7th Oct
I've just hit day 7 of the challenge and it's safe to say that my body was not ready for this. Calves are tight, butt feels bruised but 111km down and am not ready to stop yet. I was looking it up and it's close to the equivalent of Port Macquarie to Nabiac to put it into perspective. It makes me feel better to think back on driving that road and how long it takes in a car. I've done the equivalent on a bike! Wild times!
As some of you guys know, I've had 2 major abdominal surgeries in the last 6 months and this is my entrance back into the world of exercise. I'm just happy that it could be for a cause so close to my heart.

Thank you to my Sponsors
