I'M RIDING 0KM THIS OCTOBER
TO FIGHT MS
I'm taking the Challenge to fight MS!
This November (yes, delayed due to landslips in the Royal National Park), I am taking part in the 40th MS Gong Ride! I'll be riding with my neighbour Luci.
As the former Prime Minister denies ever saying, it's not a race. However, I'd like to average about 25km/h ... if Luci can keep up! Or perhaps I will struggle to keep up with him. Anyway, whoever is feeling better on the day can take longer turns in front.
Since 1981, this iconic ride has raised funds to help fight MS and I'm now part of this legacy. Having said that, I think that most participants are just in it for a pleasant ride. However, I feel that one should get into the spirit and raise a bit of money for the organisers: MS.
Why am I fundraising?
Multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition. The average age of diagnosis is 30 years, and there is no known cure.
Every person’s MS varies, but some of the symptoms are not being able to see properly (or at all), loss of balance, ability to walk, pins and needles, and chronic pain.
Your support will help people with multiple sclerosis receive the vital support, treatments, and services to help them live well at home, remain connected to work, and be part of the community.
Thank you again for your support!

Training plan update
Saturday 26th Mar Basically, in my training, I am trying to cover the event distance (or thereabouts) each week, usually spread over a weekend ride and my regular Monday ride to tennis and Centennial Park, in addition to which I typically cover 4km each weekday on school trips. Lately, it's been very wet, so I have had to put in some sessions on the rowing ergometer, which uses much the same leg muscles as cycling. On the day of the event, I am thinking that I will travel reasonably light, with just water and a few muesli bars to keep me going. As long as I can get a cup of tea at the other end, I'll be happy.Thank you to my Sponsors
