I'M RIDING 200KM THIS OCTOBER
TO FIGHT MS
I'm riding MS Gong again...
This November, I am taking part in the 40th MS Gong Ride! Once more after my first one in 2019.
I find this as a worthy cause as it helps me do my little bit to raise awareness of MS (9/10 people I speak with don't know about this disease), raise some funds (as they say every dollar counts) and ride my bike from Sydney to Wollongong.
If you have spoken with me more than 10 mins then you know my passion for everything cycling.
If you support me I promise to only send my lycra clad snaps only once a week - as an update on my training progress (if you do not I will do that EVERY DAY).
I have started the roll with a small token $51 hope if you have read so far, you will also be able to pitch in and help the worthy cause.
Why am I fundraising?
It’s quite staggering to think that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition. The average age of diagnosis is 30 years, and there is no known cure.
Every person’s MS varies, but some of the symptoms are not being able to see properly (or at all), loss of balance, ability to walk, pins and needles, and chronic pain.
Your support will help people with multiple sclerosis receive the vital support, treatments, and services to help them live well at home, remain connected to work, and be part of the community.
Thank you again for your support!

New Bike Day - Steel is RealThursday 19th Aug
As the state and country pushed towards another lockdown, I started spending more time on YouTube and bike forums of all size and shapes. Having already purchased a mountain bike in last lockdown my heart was asking me for my next N+1.
So, I thought of getting a "bike packing/touring" bike this time around and that too in Steel. You may ask where I was planning to go in the lockdown, well no where it was a future investment once we are out of quarantine, and it was not a style of bike I had with me. Quite a lot of "mainstream" bike companies don't manufacture steel bikes so that was a good investment of my time to work out what is available.
So finally, I decided on something which was available this year before the MS Gong ride as I wanted to do it on a different bike than last time and I wanted to do some “credit card” touring if the condition(s) improved.
Issue and Resolution
As usual most of the bikes in my size had to be ordered in but most of them were available only next year, I didn't want to wait for 9-12 months for a bike also my motivation above.
So, I went in for a boxed direct to consumer bike which was available this year and only had a 2 month wait...
Surprise!!!! (Not for the BOSS)
I ordered the bike in July with a promised delivery around first week of September, so like every "good" cycling enthusiastic husband I didn't tell the BOSS about the bike as I thought I had time to create a premise and make it an "informed" and "collective" decision rather than one which was taken in "haste". The bike company decided to surprise me.... first week of August I get a buzz - I was not expecting a delivery.... the guy on the phone... hey mate got your bike will leave it outside.... my BOSS looking through the window... see someone in the neighbourhood is getting a bike.... a minute later I was like... "Can you hold this door for me pls???"
Now I have a bike in my living room... (along with a work stand and my whole bike toolkit 😊) and some additional “duties” for next 30 days. I guess that is a good outcome for my N+1
