OUR TOP PERFORMERS

25 OCTOBER 2023

With just two weeks to go before the 2023 MS Gong Ride, we take a moment to celebrate two fundraising teams who are going above and beyond for our cause this year.

We sincerely thank Team Mich Fulton Hogan and team Soft Cogs, who have already raised over $100,000 collectively this year!

As our largest fundraisers this year, it goes without saying that both teams are also smashing their Gong Ride Incentive Rewards. Both teams have won their riders a ‘Finish Village Team Marquee’. Both teams have won ‘Naming Rights’ at various 2024 Gong Ride Rest Sites and both teams have individuals featuring prominently across our fundraising leaderboards.

We are delighted to have you on-board again in 2023, and THANK YOU for making a significant difference to people living with MS.

We asked Fundraising Coach and MS Events Senior Fundraising Coordinator, Donovan Lane, what it is about Team Mich and Soft Cogs that make their fundraising efforts so successful ...

“They share!” Donovan said. “These teams are both very community oriented and have been riding with us for a long time. They’re big teams with 42 and 55 riders collectively, but I think the biggest difference is that they don’t shy away from sharing their fundraising efforts with their networks and colleagues. Both teams have held separate fundraising events in the lead up to the Gong, things like Trivia Nights, White Night Events and even a dinner or two. They’re also very active on social media - as members of our MS Gong Ride Community Facebook Group, but also as hosts of their own Facebook groups. There’s a lot of community around these two teams and we are extremely grateful for everything that they continue to do to support MS Plus each year.”

The link between the communities supporting these teams and the support surrounding our broader MS community resonates with us here MS Plus. It is our goal to make sure that NO-ONE faces MS alone - so, it's no surprise to us that the bigger the network supporting our riders, the bigger the impact they appear to be making.

That being said, every amount raised (whether large or small) has a direct and tangible impact on people living with MS. We are sincerely grateful to each and every one of you who are out there fundraising for our cause. The funds you raise allow us to continue providing important services and programs, such as:

  • Plus Connect - We receive around 17,700 calls to our free helpline each week.

  • Plus Advisor - 1,400 people will reach out for specialised advice from a caring nurse, occupational therapist or social worker.

  • Plus Employment - 800 people (or more) receive employment support to help them stay in their jobs or find employment.

  • Plus Peer Support - People with MS, and their loved ones, find social connection through peer support groups - whether it be online, in-person or over the phone.

If you haven’t already, make sure you check out the rewards, competition and fundraising incentives. There’s a reward or two still up for grabs. And as always, the MS Events Team is here to help with any questions you may have relating to the event. Contact your Fundraising Coach, Donovan, on 1300 733 690 or via email at events@ms.org.au.
