I'M RIDING 80KM THIS OCTOBER
THE DISTANCE FROM
Sydney TO WOLLONGONG
I'm taking the Challenge to fight MS!
Dear All
As some of you know, Myles and I are avid cyclists. By avid, I mean very novice.
In a bit of a last-minute decision made today, we have signed up for this year's MS Gong Ride on 1 November. Unlike last year, when we'd had our tickets for months, we've left it a little late and decided to do the full 80 km ride instead of the 58 km.
The MS Gong Ride is a fundraiser to support people living with MS and other neurological conditions. We have ridden the past two years and I bought merchandise to support the fundraising but this year I am trying to do a bit better.
I'm fortunate not to have anyone in my family living with MS, but I think most of us know what it's like to deal with poor health. For many of us, it's something we experience for a period of time and recover from. People living with MS and other neurological conditions have to find ways to manage their health every day, often knowing that things may not get better.
The MS Gong Ride organisation says it best: “Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and often debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system. It is the most common neurological disease in young adults and often attacks people in the prime of their lives. Cases of MS are rising and over 37,700 Australians live with the condition. Your support will help people with multiple sclerosis receive the vital support, treatments, and services to help them live well at home, remain connected to work, and be part of the community, because no one should face MS alone.”
Thank you for your consideration.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think might like to get involved or contribute.
