Since 1981, the MS Gong Ride has united the community in support of the over 37,700 Australians living with multiple sclerosis. It has seen tens of thousands of riders taken on the course from Sydney to Wollongong and raised millions so that people living with MS get the vital support they need to meet their goals, live well and ensure that no one has to face MS alone.
In August, MS Plus CEO John Blewonski, Olympian Michelle Ferris, and the event’s highest fundraising team for 2026, West Region Delivery Team Cycle Club (WRDT CC), kicked off the 45th anniversary of the MS Gong Ride with a ceremonial training ride and presentation at Sydney Olympic Park.
The 6am training ride, a regular occurrence for the committed WRDT CC team, saw the riders depart from Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre before returning for a ceremonial presentation hosted by John and Michelle. During his speech, the MS Plus CEO recognised the impact that the MS Gong Ride has made over the past 45 years and thanked dedicated riders such as the WRDT CC team for helping the event become a beloved annual event in the Sydney and Wollongong communities.
“The MS Gong Ride is more than a bike ride; it’s a movement. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of our community. For 45 years, our riders have powered vital services and groundbreaking research. Every dollar raised brings us closer to a cure,” said John Blewonski, CEO of MS Plus.
The 2026 MS Gong Ride will take place on Sunday, 1 November with thousands of riders coming together to celebrate the history of this iconic ride and the continued commitment to support people living with MS.
