MS Plus Ltd (MS Plus) regrets to advise that due to inclement weather event organisers have taken the difficult decision to cancel the staging of the 2023 MS Gong Ride, from Sydney to Wollongong.
This decision has not been made lightly, however considering safety concerns based off the weather, organisers have been left with no choice but to take this action, announcing the cancellation of the 2023 MS Gong Ride at 6:00AM Sunday 5 November 2023.
Organisers are currently working with the emergency services and road authorities to notify all riders on the course of this decision and are coordinating with authorities to ensure the safe egress of participants, volunteers and event staff from the affected areas.
In the case of such an decision there are strict procedures in place that we adhere to. Our primary concern at this stage is ensuring the safety of all our riders and ensuring appropriate measures are in place to facilitate the cancellation.
Ensuring the safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff, along with supporting their families, is of the highest priority to MS Plus at all events.
The 2023 MS Gong Ride takes safety extremely seriously and plans all events and courses with the advice, input, and guidance from emergency services, including ambulance, police, and road authorities.
Safety measures across the course include, NSW Police, ambulance, first aid, rest stops which are all coordinated by the event joint operations centre.
